Beauty Travel Essentials: Beauty & Skin Care

So, you have decided your next travel destination, you have packed all the clothes and now you are wondering what makeup products you will take with you. We are all familiar with this scenario. Will the airport security allow me to take this cleanser on my bag? What about this moisturizer? This is why we have created this beauty travel essentials guide.

Know Your Security Screening Liquids Rule

First and foremost, you need to adhere to the 3.4 oz rule for carry-on bags. As long as all your liquids and gels container don’t exceed 3.4 oz or 100 ml, you are good to go. Otherwise, you can put them in your checked in baggage. So, what you need is some packaging products. Make sure you fit all your liquids, gels and creams in smaller containers before putting them in your bag. If you want to be on the safe side you can also double pack them inside a ziplock bag, so you are prepared for any leakage. With that said and done let’s continue with our makeup products.

What are the Beauty Travel Essentials?

Cleanser

You can choose between traditional liquid cleanser, face wipe cleanser or stick cleanser. What we find the most easy to use during travelling is that stick cleanser. You don’t have to worry about where to store it because it won’t spill or cause any damage. Before going out on the beach, or when you come back from the party, just pop the stick out and cleanse your skin thoroughly. When you are out all day adventuring, your face tends to get oily and dirty. This is a must in between other beauty travel essentials.

Moisturizer

This comes second on the list. You may even find it useful to keep this with you, as flights can get long and your skin will get dry. Also, the air in the airplane can get really dry and that is not something you want. Make sure to keep yourself hydrated at all the times, and as soon as you have the chance make sure to apply a face mask moisturizer.

Sunscreen

Now I cannot stress the importance of sunscreen enough. Before you travel make sure to buy one of these as sometimes in exotic destinations these may be harder to find and more expensive. Don’t forget to apply sunscreen before you go inside the plane. When you are 10,000 feet in the air, the sun rays are a lot more harmful, so you need to apply the sunscreen each 30-60 minutes. You can get a broad spectrum SPF30 sunscreen, but make sure you use it. Other than protecting your skin from the harmful rays, it will also moisturize your skin and prevent premature aging. Nobody likes wrinkles so it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Concealer

Sometimes when traveling long distances, you will not catch enough sleep. Or you may pull an all-nighter and go out drinking and partying. Tomorrow you don’t want to look like you were hit by a train, so that’s why we suggest you get an under-eye concealer.

Setting Powder

While usually holidays are a chance for most of you to go au-natural, we have included setting powder on our beauty travel essentials. Your skin will look beautiful when you get a little sun-kissed, but we suggest taking a setting powder with you anyway, especially if your skin is a little oily.

Mascara

You need to choose this one carefully. Being waterproof is a total must, but it should also be removed easily. Try some of the brands available before choosing one, but keep those things in mind. You will be swimming and moving around a lot, so don’t underestimate this.

Lipstick

Red, red and red. Nothing looks more beautiful on your tanned face as red lipstick. A classic symbol of beauty, it also goes hand in hand with your holiday vibes. If you are planning on going out every night though you may need to get a couple of more lipsticks, so you can alternate them.

Shampoo / Conditioner

While most of the hotels offer these two, I really don’t like mass-produced soaps, so that’s why I put these two in my beauty travel essentials. You don’t want your hair to get a real mess and itchy. I would recommend something moisturizing, because you certainly need to hydrate your hair after spending all the day outside swimming or sunbathing.  Don’t forget the 3oz rule though, or you may find the airport security confiscating them. Pour them in small container and you’re set to go.

Foundation

If you think that you have got yourself covered with only a concealer, you would be totally wrong. I highly recommend you get a foundation with you and use both of them when you can. Especially when you are on the beach, you face may get some redness, so you need a foundation to smooth it out. While a concealer may be good for your under-eye parts, they just don’t work really well for larger areas. Take a small brush with you as well and blend your foundation really well, before applying some concealer.

Hand Sanitizers

When you travel, you are constantly touching stuff that has been touched heavily by who-knows-whom. Airports, bathrooms, airplanes are frequently full of germs and you might get sick.  So make sure you buy a small hand sanitizer and keep it with you at all times. Or you can get those sanitizer wipes and put them in your handbag.
