Every girl’s dream is to have a very gorgeous and thick long hair. Watching it in different advertisements isn’t helping either. Just don’t whip it back and forth over your shoulder and see how it feels to do what you see some models do on TV.  If you are planning on waiting to grow it naturally, you might just have to wait for a very long time. Then we turn to hair extension as a fast way of achieving our goal of growing long hair. Sure, it will make you look beautiful, but there are things you need to look at before going further with this. We are going to put you through the Pros and Cons of hair extensions. You will also know about different ones to choose from.

Fusion Hair Extensions

The Fusion Hair extension is one that fits in with a hot or cold method. If you go for the cold fusion, you might require a little amount of hair in your hair extension, which is held in one piece inside copper cylinders. Your hair stylist can pull the hair extension across a lock and can shut the lock with a tool. The silicon lining helps to protect the natural hair. The hot method, on the other hand, Keratin U-tip bonds are lined with silicone and laced in small parts of the hair. Your hair stylist will fuse the hair extension together to the root of the natural hair by using a form of heat.

Pros

      Hot Fusion

  • If and when maintained well, they can last you up to 5 months. The Fusion hair is one of the most long-lasting extensions out there.
  • It suits many hairs types, especially if yours is thick and coarse.
  • The Extension blends with your natural hair perfectly that it is always hard to spot the

     Cold Fusion

  • If you use the cold fusion method, the hair moves naturally
  • Quality human hair is used when applying using the cold fusion method
  • Unlike the hot fusion, the hairs are reusable
  • It doesn’t require the use of heat so don’t worry about getting it damaged

Cons

Hot Fusion

  • The heat used to fuse this extension can damage your own hair
  • Ones fused, as time goes by you might start to experience itching and tight pulling which are a very painful experience.
  • You can’t re-use them one used, that is why when compared to others are very expensive.
  • If not applied properly by hair technician with hands-on experience on how it is applied, you might end up damaging or breaking it when trying to apply it.

Cold Fusion

  • Time-wise, it is not different from the Hot fusion as it takes time to apply it.
  • If not properly applied, the locks will be visible, and if you’ve got a thin hair don’t use it as the bond will start to show.

Clip in Extensions

The clip in hair extensions are those extensions that are clipped to your own hair. The clips are sewn on the weave of the extension. The clip extension differs and varies in the width and the part of the head, from the clip used in the front part of your hair to the ones (usually three-four) clips applied at the back of your head.

Pros

  • The clip in extension is so easy to use that it can be pulled off. It can be used again without the need of any hair technician.
  • This type of extension is very cheap and can be afforded by many.
  • Unlike the Fusion extension, the clip extension will cause no damage to the hair.
  • If you don’t like the color you have on, you can always change it to another one. There is no problem of committing to one color.

Cons

  • Check properly before applying as some are made with low-quality synthetic hair.
  • Even though they are easy to use, they are not as durable as they can only be used for a short period of time.
  • If not clipped properly, they can fall off any time – I mean anytime
  • This extension is also not suitable for people with thin hair as the clips used are bulky.

Tape in Extensions

The Tape in the method is still new and is not popular with ladies. This new method involves applying the hair with polyurethane tape. It can be single sided or double sided depending on the level of thickness of your hair.

Pros

  •  You can apply the tape in extension within thirty to sixty minutes, unlike the other types of extensions.
  • You don’t have to worry about hair damage as it doesn’t require the use of glue of heat.
  • If properly applied can be hard to spot because they lie flat against your head.
  • Like the clip in counterpart, they are totally reusable.
  • If maintained properly, they can last up to eight weeks.
  • The tape in extensions do not cause breakage of hair as the extension is spread over a large area on your head.

Cons

  • Needs time before you can wash the hair as the hair needs to bond properly (approximately 48 hours) before you can wash your hair
  • Ones applied to avoid using shampoos or any hair products that are oil based as they can cause the taped panels to break apart.

As we’ve said earlier, this article should give you the knowledge you need and allow you to make an informed decision on the next hair extension you wish to use. In this article, we have not mentioned other extensions like the weave Hair Extension. At the very minimum, you have to know what hairstyle that suits your lifestyle.
